Introduction
This policy document outlines the operational, academic, and ethical guidelines applicable to learners, faculty, and staff associated with the Academy of Palliative Medicine (APM). APM provides online and hybrid (online and in-person) learning opportunities to ensure accessibility while maintaining high standards of academic excellence in Palliative Medicine education.
Scope
This policy encompasses governance, academic structure, administration, student welfare, and technology integration. It ensures compliance with quality standards, promotes ethical practices, and establishes a conducive learning environment for all stakeholders.
Academic Structure
Mode: Online or Hybrid (including online modules, virtual sessions, clinical attachments, and in-person workshops). Curriculum: Delivered through structured modules aligned with specific learning outcomes and regulatory standards.
Attendance & Participation:
- A minimum of 75% attendance is required for both online and offline components.
- Active participation in discussions, case presentations, and group activities is mandatory.
Assessments:
- Each module comprises online tests, quizzes, assignments, peer discussions, and a final exit exam.
- Final evaluation criteria:
- 20% from formative assessments
- 80% from summative assessments
- Assessment styles may vary by course and will be communicated at the outset.
Certification:
Certificates of Completion will be awarded only upon:
- Meeting attendance requirements
- Completing all assignments
- Satisfying assessment criteria
Policy on Eligibility & Admission
Courses are open to medical and allied health professionals with an interest in Palliative Care. Specific eligibility criteria for each course will be published in advance.
Policy on Academic Integrity
Learners must uphold academic integrity. Plagiarism, cheating, misuse of learning platforms, or inappropriate use of artificial intelligence tools (e.g., submitting AI-generated work as one’s own without disclosure) will lead to disqualification. Professional and respectful conduct is expected in all settings.
Policy on Fees & Refunds
- Course fees (announced for each course) must be paid in full before commencement.
- Refund requests must be submitted at least seven days prior to the course start date.
- No refunds will be processed after this period unless under exceptional circumstances, which will be reviewed by APM’s Academic and Administrative Committee on a case-by-case basis.
Policy on Grievance Redressal
Grievances may be submitted via email to the Academic Officer at . The Grievance Redressal Team will respond within 14 days of receiving the complaint. All outcomes will be communicated within the same timeframe.
Policy on Feedback
APM provides a feedback platform within its Learning Management System (LMS) to gather input from students, faculty, and stakeholders. This feedback is reviewed to improve academic and administrative practices.
Policy on Data Privacy & Confidentiality
- Personal data of learners, faculty, and staff is handled confidentially and used solely for academic and administrative purposes.
- Patient information discussed during teaching sessions must be anonymised in compliance with ethical and legal standards.
Policy on Amendments
APM reserves the right to amend this policy to reflect academic, administrative, or regulatory changes. All updates will be formally communicated to all stakeholders.
